Wachten Op Godot

Dit is wat Catherine Ashton, de "minister" van buitenlandse zaken van de EU, een aantal maanden geleden zei toen ze in haar onmetelijke wijsheid besloot om de financiële steun aan de Palestijnse Autoriteit van Abbas toch voort te zetten ondanks het feit dat die net een gezamenlijke regering met de Hamas vormde:

"The EU has said it will keep on giving money to the Palestinian authorities despite their new deal with Hamas, an EU-designated terrorist group. Foreign relations spokesman Michael Mann said on Monday (6 February) that it's business as usual after the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) and Hamas in Qatar earlier the same day agreed to form a unity government. "The EU looks forward to continuing its support, including through direct financial assistance, for a new Palestinian government that should uphold the principle of non-violence," he noted in a written statement." (lees hier)

Mevrouw Ashton had dit natuurlijk nooit en te nimmer kunnen vermoeden, laat staan weten, maar dit is wat in de echte wereld gebeurt net buiten de mentale muren van Lalaland:

"Hamas beschiet Israël met langeafstandsraketten. De radicaal-islamitische groepering Hamas heeft in de nacht van maandag op dinsdag voor het eerst sinds april vorig jaar langeafstandsraketten op Israël geschoten." (lees hier)

"At an event with the participation of three PA ministers, Minister of Social Affairs Majida Al-Masri called for Palestinian unity and reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas in order "to turn to the struggle for the liberation of Palestine - all of Palestine." (lees hier)

Maar gelukkig is de redding nabij. De EU, die in strijd met de eigen principes en afspraken tegenwoordig het genocidale en racistische geweld van de Hamas financiert, heeft weer een nieuw bureaucratische machinerie in het leven geroepen om eens en voor altijd alle onrecht uit de wereld te kunnen helpen (en let op de onheilspellende naam van deze machinerie!).

"The EU will beef up its foreign affairs team within weeks by hiring a Special Representative for Human Rights (EUSR), according to EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton [...] the new envoy should have "a strong, independent and flexible mandate" which should " reflect EU human rights policy and cover areas that include strengthening democracy, international justice, humanitarian law, abolition of the death penalty, freedom of expression, gender issues and children and armed conflict." Nog even wachten dus. De EUSSR gaat binnenkort een onderzoek instellen en vervolgens voorstellen om de financiering van de Hamas onmiddellijk te stoppen. Daarnaast zou de EUSR ongetwijfeld ook voorstellen om Ashton naar het Internationale Gerechtshof in Den Haag te slepen wegens het feit dat zij, in strijd met het internationale recht, het genocidale en racistische geweld van de Hamas financierde.
